Following on from Floyd Mayweather’s sympathetic response after Ronda Rousey’s devastating knockout last weekend, he’s turned the world further on its head in his latest interview by offering to coach her to help her develop her boxing skills. What the hell?
The segment went down on FightHype.com and you can listen to the whole interview below, but here’s the crucial part:
One thing that was very interesting, someone came to me and showed me an interview where she was talking about me, not in a bad way, but in a good way actually, talking about her coach, I guess, always brings my name up.
Her coach likes my fighting style and was talking about the shoulder roll and was talking about some other things in the interview, which was positive.
If I was her, I would’ve used Floyd Mayweather’s name also. She’s supposed to do that. It’s business, it’s not personal, and I understand business.

People will love you on Friday, and then Sunday morning, it’s nothing but negative comments and people making jokes and people making fun about you, which I don’t think is cool.
I want Ronda Rousey to hold her head up high and don’t let this discourage you.
If you need help as far as with boxing, I’m here to help you. It’s all about timing and inches.
Wow. That’s quite a turnaround isn’t it?
To be fair to Floyd, he’s normally pretty respectful with his opponents after fights, it’s just before them in the build up that he’s an asshole so he gets that PPV buy rate in – and that’s just business like he said. Maybe he isn’t actually that much of a jerk in real life when he isn’t playing that character?
As for Ronda, she might do worse than to eat that humble pie and take him up on that offer. He’s obviously one of the best boxers in the business and the general consensus after Saturday seems to be that Ronda needs to work on her boxing skills because they were pretty much non-existant in that fight. It’ll be interesting to see how this one plays out.
