Johnny Depp Appears At MTV VMAs As Spaceman In Completely Weird Promo

Ever since Johnny Depp won his defamation trial against Amber Heard, he’s been on a comeback tour all over the world – hanging out and playing guitar with Jeff Beck in the UK, shooting a movie in France – but he hadn’t made a public appearance in the US until Sunday night at the MTV Video Music Awards.

I was surprised to see that the VMAs were still something that people cared about, but apparently they are as Depp decided to begin his long awaited US comeback there by appearing in a superimposed spacesuit over the crowd, floating around talking nonsense. Here’s the very confusing clip:

Hey, you know what? I need the work.

I just want you guys to know that I’m available for birthdays, bar mitzvahs, bat mitzvahs, weddings, wakes, any old thing you need,

OK so for a little context here, the award statues that the VMAs were giving out this year were little statues of the ‘spaceperson’ (taking wokeness a bit too far there) that seems to be the official mascot of the show, so I’m guessing that was why Depp was appearing as him. Not sure if it was really that effective though as the camera is so far away that you can’t even really tell that it’s him, even on TV.

It’s fairly obvious why he’s saying he needs the work, but for extra stupidity right here, it’s kinda funny that the fans in the arena didn’t even see the CGI (or whatever you want to call it, really not sure) and that the applause was edited in:

Lol what an absolute joke. I’m not even sure what his appearance is even promoting or trying to achieve. Very weird set of events all around.

It probably isn’t gonna harm Depp’s reputation is it though? What even can at this point?

For more of the same, check out this new movie that Johnny Depp is set to direct. Is there anything he can’t do right now?
