John Terry Faces Backlash After Appearing To Support Banning The Burqa
John Terry has been called a racist ever since he (allegedly) racially abused Anton Ferdinand back in 2011, and it’s only getting worse for him now following his social media activity in recent days.
First, the ex-Chelsea and England man commented with clap emojis and an England flag under Rupert Lowe’s Instagram post promising to ban the burqa under Restore Britain:
Then he liked another Rupert Lowe post calling for mass deportations…
Good shout on not spending billions on bombing Iran, to be fair.
Then someone noticed he’d been liking Tommy Robinson posts…
Naturally this has resulted in a load of backlash against Terry, 45, with people bringing up his racist past and even the whole drama with him sh@gging teammate Wayne Bridge’s wife. Just to remind everyone that he seems to be a pretty awful person in general.
Rupert Lowe has since issued a statement defending Terry, claiming the former defender was “taking some flak” for a position that “the vast majority of British people support.”
I’m sure many do, but I wonder how many at Chelsea – where Terry now works as an academy coach – agree with his views. Well, to be fair, they do have a reputation for being a pretty racist football club.
Remember when Rio Ferdinand called out Terry for having a fragile ego and for being racist towards his brother, and John ignored the racism bit and only addressed the “fragile ego” part of the tweet? Classic:
