Joey Barton Charged With ‘Wounding With Intent’ Following Fight At Golf Club
Looks like Joey Barton is at it again – he’s just been arrested and charged with wounding with intent following an assault near a golf club.
Barton, 43, and Gary O’Grady, 50, have been charged following the incident close to Huyton and Prescot Golf Club, in Merseyside.
Emergency services were called to the location at around 9pm on Sunday, where the victim was found with serious injuries to his face and ribs. He is currently in a serious but stable condition in hospital.

It’s understood that an argument kicked off inside the clubhouse, and a weapon was subsequently produced from outside the building.
Barton and his mate are due to appear in court today (Tuesday). Coincidentally – it’s the same day that the High Court has ordered Barton to pay more than £300,000 in damages and legal costs to Eni Aluko following the libel claim he lost. Maybe he was letting off some stream in advance?
As if things weren’t looking bleak enough for Barton, he was already on a a six-month suspended prison sentence in December 2025 for his ‘grossly offensive’ social media posts.
A new criminal conviction during the 18-month operational period of that sentence could trigger the suspended term.

What can you say really? The guy was walking a tightrope already and somehow could not muster the discipline to avoid beating someone up for the duration of his suspended sentence. Now he’s in serious trouble (provided he’s guilty) and Eni Aluko will be popping champagne. Only has himself to blame.
