‘The Inbetweeners’ is one of the best loved British sitcoms of the past twenty years, so it’s hardly surprising that its stars are constantly pestered in public to talk about the show and take selfies with fans.

Obviously, James Buckley is one of the most popular of the characters – he’s one of the highest earning celebrities on Cameo don’t you know? – due to his ridiculously creative and cocky insults, but sadly this has affected his personal life a bit too much, to the extent that he can no longer use public urinals. Talking to the Headstrong podcast, he explained his issues with them:

I don’t feel comfortable enough to use a urinal anymore.

I haven’t used one for years, I’ve always got to go to a cubicle because it has happened, I’m there with it out and people are trying to talk to me about The Inbetweeners.

I’m like, “Do you want to give me 30 seconds…

I just wanted to be an actor, more specifically I just wanted to make people laugh on television.

I didn’t really consider that there might be a chance that people would recognise me if I walked down the street.

It’s not something that I really thought too much about at the time. It is a bit odd.

I don’t want people to have a preconception of me. People are usually just very disappointed when they meet me.

That does sound kinda tough for James doesn’t it? I wonder what he does if there’s a really long queue for the toilet cubicle but there’s room at the urinal? I suppose it would be the same problem waiting in the line, although it’s a slightly better environment than a urinal to have a conversation. Could be stuck there for much longer depending how long the guy in the toilet is. Tough decision for the guy.

Kinda dumb for Buckley to think that he wouldn’t get recognised out in public after surprising in a really funny prime time E4 comedy, but I suppose it’s probably a bit surprising for him that the show became as huge as it has done. Just remember if you see him out and about maybe make sure he’s not doing much when you approach him. He did say that almost all the fans he had met were wonderful, but just that the urinal encounters were a bit much. Fair enough really.

For more of the same, check out James Buckley going on a ridiculous pro Brexit rant. That one is really silly.
