If you’ve been awake for more than two minutes today then chances are you’ve heard about Will Smith slapping Chris Rock live on stage at the Oscars last night after he insulted his wife Jada Pinkett Smith’s hair loss because it’s literally all anyone is talking about. Wow. I guess that joke’s a bit close to the bone considering Pinkett Smith does have alopecia and all her hair has fallen out, but the hosts pretty much rinse everyone at the Oscars every year – there had already been a couple of jokes aimed at Smith and Pinkett’s open relationship after all that entanglement stuff last year – so it’s kind of surprising to see Smith react like this. Especially when you see him laughing at the joke at the start of the clip, but I suppose if you piss Jada off then you’re gonna get it from him and that’s that. Even if Will does just let her sleep with whoever she wants on the reg. Seems like there’s a clear power dynamic in that relationship but who are we to judge?

He really probably didn’t did he? What a great selection and it’s only been about five hours since he slapped Chris Rock. Think about how many more memes there are going to be from this moment. It’s probably the greatest Oscars moment of all time. The only thing I can even think of coming up against it is when they announced that ‘La La Land’ had won instead of ‘Moonlight’ but everyone’s kinda forgotten about that now. Not even a competition now though.
