Helen Mirren & Tom Hardy ‘Fell Out Over Israel & Palestine On The Set Of MobLand’
Rumours are swirling around the sacking of Tom Hardy from MobLand ahead of the show’s third season, and the exact cause of his reported fallout with Dame Helen Mirren on set.
Aside from reportedly annoying producers by turning up late, trying to rewrite lines and offering unsolicited script notes, Hardy apparently clashed with Mirren over politics.

From what I can tell, the source of these rumours seems to be an account on X that has some inside information from on set, with that Tweet racking up 15k likes and counting. It reads…
I have some gossip about the Tom Hardy/Helen Mirren/Mobland thing. Whilst discussing Londoners she mentioned how ‘people don’t realise the hurt being caused by the Marches for Palestine’ and Hardy laughed in her face and left the table some of the cast/crew were sat at.
After that event she began to complain endlessly about him. She would request call time adjustments and get mad when Hardy couldn’t make it. She hated how he was ‘overly confident amongst his peers’. I think she’s a mad Zionist who hates younger actors not deferring to her.
You didn’t hear it from me, right? Don’t tell anyone.
Now obviously this could be a load of b0llocks that this person completely made up, but it seems like people are running with it, to the point that Helen Mirren has turned off her comments on Instagram because people are bringing it up…

Looking into it, it appears that Helen Mirren is indeed a strong supporter of Israel, and has played Jewish women from history a few times on the big screen. She played former Israeli PM Golda Meir in the biographical drama Golda, a Holocaust refugee in the film Woman in Gold, and a former Mossad agent hunting a Nazi war criminal in the thriller The Debt.
So I guess she feels rather strongly connected to Israel despite not being Jewish or Israeli herself. Whether that truly was a part of the reason she fell out with Tom Hardy? I’m not sure we’ll ever know for sure.
What is certain is that Tom Hardy will not be returning for season 3 of MobLand, which poses a bit of a problem given he’s the main protagonist and the reason people watch the show. Goes to show what an impossible situation it must have been on set if they actually felt the only solution was to fire him.
They’re going to have to come up with something really good for season 3 to keep people invested.
