Well, it’s finally happening. With Tottenham accepting an £104million bid from Bayern Munich earlier this week, Harry Kane has now agreed personal terms with the club and will travel to Germany today to complete his medical and sign a four-year contract.

Spurs fans on social media are understandably in meltdown as this truly marks the end of an era for them. Kane may have never won any trophies at Tottenham but he was the face of the club. He was supposed to be in north London wearing white until retirement. Not to mention, he was well on his way to securing the Premier League goal-scoring record.

What’s more important than goal-scoring records though is winning trophies, and at the end of the day, Kane just wasn’t doing that with Tottenham (or with England, to be fair). Can you really be considered one of the all-time greats if you’ve never won a trophy?

Winning a domestic trophy with Bayern may not sound like that big of a deal, but crucially Kane will be well in the mix for the Champions League. Can you imagine if Bayern come up against Arsenal in the competition with Kane as their number 9?

What does this mean for Tottenham, though? Well, they have £100m+ to spend so that’s not a bad consolation. Will help them build a midfield and defense that can actually support a striker instead of having him drop deep every game. Maybe Richarlison can step up and learn to stay onside so that he can actually score a few goals this season. If he’s not injured for half of it, anyway.

Who knows, this could end up being a win-win-win for everybody; Bayern and Kane win trophies, Arsenal won’t concede an obligatory Kane goal at the North London derby, and Ange Postecoglou has £100m to play with as he rebuilds Tottenham’s squad to his specifications.

In the end though, there’s no getting away from it – Tottenham have lost the best player their club has ever seen. Now all he has to do is win a trophy to validate it.
