EssayHub is the platform to provide exactly those services to all students out there. Here’s an extensive EssayHub review that provides all the relevant information on it. Catch a break, watch a Bond movie, and relax a bit this autumn.

Moving along, here are our five movie picks, with number one being the top Bond movie of all time.

Casino Royale (2006)

  • Plot summary: Bond goes to Montenegro with a mission to stop and defeat a private banker who is funding terrorists in a high-stakes poker game.
  • James Bond played by: Daniel Craig
  • 27 wins, 44 nominations

The plot takes the character to the beginning of it all ‒ the moment when Bond gets his 00 license. Daniel Craig co-stars with Eva Green as Vesper Lynd, his romantic interest for this particular film. Vesper is an agent for the British Treasury, and Bond really meets his match with Vesper. Fans can see Bond’s vulnerability, which is rare.

We suspect that one of the main reasons that this Bond film scored the top place in many reviews is because it didn’t rely too much on gadgets and special effects but focused more on the characters’ dynamics and emotions. Casino Royale gives us a peek of Bond’s roots and allows fans to appreciate the protagonist even more.

The action is thrilling enough as well, as it should be in a Bond movie, with Bond chasing his enemies on airport runways and construction cranes. Sounds exciting, doesn’t it?

Just a heads up, Bond gets tortured naked in this one. It’s not for the frail-hearted.

Goldfinger (1964)

  • Plot Summary: James Bond discovers an evil plot to contaminate a gold reserve.
  • James Bond played by: Sean Connery
  • 6 wins, 6 nominations

Goldfinger has been criticized as the perfect template/embodiment of what people expect in a Bond movie; it became iconic and stapled the James Bond films in pop culture as a household name.

The villain is called Goldfinger and is quite an interesting character on his own. He wants to take over the world by destroying the competition in the gold sector. And the movie provides some memorable scenes like the dead woman covered in gold, the battles at Fort Knox, and the mega cool Aston Martin. The crew has gone out of their way to please the viewers. So, the movie is definitely worth your time.

Skyfall (2012)

  • Plot summary: MI6 is attacked, and Bond has to search and destroy the threat. His loyalty to M is also tested when her past comes back and haunts her.
  • James Bond played by: Daniel Craig
  • 67 wins, 123 nominations

Skyfall is a great film addition to the Bond saga. Skyfall has a very somber, dark, and dramatic vibe, with gorgeous shots and a majestic and iconic theme song sung by Adele. It’s definitely the embodiment of the new and modern James Bond. Skyfall overall is just suave and sleek like our protagonist. Even the title rolls off the tongue.

Fans get to see Bond’s childhood mansion in Scotland, in the highlands nonetheless. And we get to see the formidable villain Raoul Silva destroy it. Bond also gets to be with three beautiful women in this film, so there’s no shortage of excitement for him and the viewers.

The Spy Who Loved Me (1977)

  • Plot summary: 007 investigates hijacked submarines transporting nuclear warheads. He’s aided by a K.G.B. agent. But not just any agent. An agent whose lover he murdered.
  • James Bond played by: Roger Moore
  • 3 wins, 11 nominations

This movie has arguably one of the best action and adventure in all of the Bond movies, with Moore being chased by enemies in a submarine, traveling to Egypt, a lot of money scenes, a memorable and dangerous stunt falling off a mountain, and an epic hideout that rises from the depths of the ocean.

The Spy Who Loved Me is a must-watch for fans and general audience alike, even if it is one of the older Bond films. Besides, the retro-vintage vibe is refreshing and interesting to watch and adds even more style to the film. The bond girl in this film is gorgeous and sultry Barbara Bach, who is a delight to see as well.

On Her Majesty’s Secret Service (1969)

  • 007 charms a mob boss’s daughter and goes undercover on a mission to discover the truth about a research facility in the Swiss Alps.
  • James Bond played by: George Lazenby
  • 1 win, 4 nominations

This one is a fun one. Not only does it have gorgeous women who’ve been brainwashed to wreak havoc, which is a refreshing twist on the usual enemies, but there’s also a lot of ski scenes. And it’s one of the more romantic Bond films. Diana Rigg, as Bond’s romantic interest, set a standard that other Bond girls couldn’t quite reach.

Action, romance, and tragedy – what else can we expect from a classic Bond film?

The Bottom Line

Which ones are your favorites? James Bond might not be everyone’s cup of tea, but it is a fun, adventurous, and sexy movie saga nonetheless. We are sure that the five movies on our list should entertain even the pickiest movie buffs, so have a go at them and enjoy.

There’s also a new Bond movie out in 2021, but we’ll leave the review for that one at a later point in time. Get the popcorn ready in the meantime.
