After two years of waiting, pretty much everyone in the world tuned in to the final series of Game Of Thrones this Easter and pretty much everyone was disappointed with how it ended up and vented their fury online, with a bunch of people even petitioning HBO to remake it with competent writers.

With this in mind, it was kind of surprising that showrunners D.B. Weiss and David Benioff agreed to do a panel at San Diego Comic Con this weekend as it’s notoriously full of asshole fans who call people out with their cynical nerd logic and would no doubt give them one hell of a hard time in their first public appearance since the show ended. What isn’t surprising though is that they’ve actually realised just how much of a massacre any appearance by them would be and have decided to cancel the event just 24 hours before it was due to take place.

Here’s the official line from the series’ Twitter account:

Lol don’t give any reasons or anything hey? Or even mention the people that were scheduled to attend but are no longer showing up.

Serious damage control there and pretty clear that they’ve just completely pussied it in the face of an impeding savaging from fans, but I suppose you can’t blame them when they’ve spent ten years of their life creating something just to have everyone shit on it. Can’t be a good feeling and you get the idea that they might actually have started crying or had a spectacular meltdown if they showed up. Kinda feel sorry for them.

The panel is still going ahead and will feature Maisie Williams (Arya Stark), Isaac Hempstead Wright (Bran Stark), Jacob Anderson (Grey Worm), John Bradley (Samwell Tarly), Nikolaj Coster-Waldau (Jaime Lannister), Liam Cunningham (Davos Seaworth), and Conleth Hill (Varys). I guess they’ll have to try and justify the ending amongst constant negging from a bunch of fat sweaty whiney incels. Sounds like a great way to spend the weekend.

For more of the same, check out Snoop Dogg watching the Game Of Thrones finale. Probably better than the actual finale.
