Elon Musk appears to be running Twitter into the ground faster than his critics and haters could have ever predicted, but it sure is fun watching it happen. The guy spent $44B on buying the platform and has just been firing everyone that he doesn’t like, and has now told the remainder of his workforce that they have 24 hours to commit to being ‘extremely hardcore’ or else they’re sacked too.

In a late-night internet e-mail obtained by CNN, Elon wrote: “Going forward, to build a breakthrough Twitter 2.0 and succeed in an increasingly competitive world, we will need to be extremely hardcore. This will mean working long hours at high intensity. Only exceptional performance will constitute a passing grade.”

Musk goes on to outline how Twitter will be “much more engineering-driven” and then gives staff an ultimatum. “If you are sure that you want to be part of the new Twitter, please click yes on the link below,” directing staff to what appears to be an online form.

I’m not sure how effective this all is as a business model but I guess we’ll have to wait and see what percentage of remaining Twitter employees voted ‘yes’ to being extremely hardcore. As for those who are not hardcore, best of luck on your future endeavors and don’t spend that 3 months severance package all at once. No more iced matcha breaks and meditation rooms, it seems:
