For years there’ve been rumours that Phillip Schofield & Holly Willoughby don’t really like each other, but this has really ramped up in the last few days with word on the internet streets being that the This Morning co-hosts have fallen out massively.

Apparently, former This Morning host Eamonn Holmes has known this for ages, and went on GB News earlier to hit out at the pair over their alleged falling out. Referencing the Baftas, he said:

“I think there should have been a special award for Phillip Schofield and Holly Willoughby for best actors.

They may or may not be together on the telly today. He’s brought in lawyers, she’s brought in a PR team.

The public surely will suss that there’s no chemistry, that it’s a broken fit between the two of them and that This Morning does not depend on who presents it.

It’s an institution, it will carry on no matter who presents it and anyone can check the viewing figures, there’s no difference between whether they present it or anyone else.”

Hmm, seems a bit like sour grapes to me, but maybe he’s right? Turns out Phil & Holly did appear on the show together today (15 May), and made no reference to the rumours of a rift. No doubt the body language experts are on the case as we speak, looking for any hint of tension or awkwardness between them. Viewing figures are expected to be through the roof for today’s episode, given the story’s been making headlines for a few days now.

Question is – why would these two be particularly at odds now, after so many years of enduring each other’s company? Well, it probably doesn’t help that Philip Schofield’s paedophile brother was recently convicted of 11 child sex offences, and Philip himself cheated on and left his wife for a young man who was just legal, but who he’d known since he was a child. Of course it was spun as a heartwarming tale of Phil “finally coming out”, but as someone with three young kids who have probably hung out with Schofield’s family before, Holly Willoughby won’t have been too happy about any of it.

In any case, Schofield issued a statement last week that insisted he and Holly are still best buddies:

“As I have said before, Holly is my rock.

We’re the best of friends — as always, she is an incredible support on screen, behind the scenes and on the phone.

Holly has always been there for me, through thick and thin. And I’ve been there for her.

The last few weeks haven’t been easy for either of us.”

If you say so…

The queue-jumping drama at the Queen’s funeral can’t have helped matters either, to be fair.
