The Swansea ball boy who was infamously kicked in the ribs by Eden Hazard during the 2013 League Cup semi-final has gone on to feature in the Sunday Times Rich List 2022.

Here’s a reminder of then 17-year-old Charlie Morgan’s genius time-wasting antics, which prompted Hazard to stick a boot in and receive a straight red card and 3-game ban for his troubles:

The game ended 0-0 and because Swansea had beaten Chelsea 2-0 in the first leg, they went through to the finals where they ended up winning the League Cup by thrashing Bradford City 5-0. I mean you have to build Charlie a statue outside Swansea’s stadium after that, right?

Well anyway, it turns out Charlie’s genius extends beyond the football pitch, as the 26-year-old is now worth over £40 million thanks to the drinks business he set up with his buddy Jackson Quinn.

Charlie and Jackson launched Au Vodka in 2016, eventually selling 10,000 bottles of black grape vodka in December 2019 alone, which is more than they’d sold in the previous 11 months combined. The brand has gone from strength to strength since, with the lads now producing 35,000 bottles a day and selling them all around the world.

Floyd Mayweather loves the stuff:

As does Ronaldinho:

Well from the looks of it they probably have a stake in the company and all, but that’s neither here nor there. There’s just something quite amusing about the lad who went viral for getting the sh*t kicked out of him by Eden Hazard now being worth $40m and kicking it with international sporting superstars.

Wonder if he’s sent Hazard a couple bottles to make peace over the whole thing? Yeah probably not.
