Cain Velasquez Is Reportedly Being Released On Parole Today
Former UFC heavyweight champion Cain Velasquez is being granted early parole today (February 15) after serving time for trying to kill a man who sexually abused his son.
Back in 2022, Velasquez tracked down and shot at Harry Eugene Goularte, who allegedly molested the MMA legend’s 4-year-old son at a daycare centre.
Velasquez, 43, shot at Goularte multiple times during a high-speed chase while he was in a car with his dad. Unfortunately he managed to hit Goularte’s father instead, who suffered ‘non-life threatening injuries’.
Goularte, 45, was subsequently arrested at the nursery and released on bail, but that case still hasn’t gone to trial. The victim reported the abuse which allegedly occurred in the nursery’s bathroom, where Goularte insists he was just helping the child ‘put their pants on correctly’.
Meanwhile, Velasquez was sentenced to 5 years for attempted murder and is now being let out early.
He celebrated his release on Instagram by announcing he was going to… host a Holotropic Breathing Seminar?
Fair enough really. I bet that breathwork came in handy in prison. He may also need it to keep from tracking down Harry Eugene Goularte and attempting to kill him again, given that not only was his son molested (allegedly) but he also spent 5 years in prison for an unsuccessful attempt at killing the culprit. That’s got to make you extra motivated for revenge, surely? Well, unless you’re doing Holotropic Breathing maybe.
The good news is that now that Velasquez is out, Goularte’s trial can begin as the former UFC star is listed as a “necessary witness.” Hopefully justice is served and the Velasquez family can get their lives back on track, whatever the outcome. Welcome back, champ!
