BBC Sacked Scott Mills After Learning Of ‘Serious Sexual Offences’ Against Teenage Boy
The BBC sacked Scott Mills after learning of a 2016 police investigation into alleged “serious sexual offences” against a teenage boy between 1997 and 2000.
The case was dropped due to a lack of evidence, but there’s no way the Beeb is taking the risk after all the scandals they’ve had already. Not to mention – he probably should have declared it to them.
The Met Police said: “In December 2016, the Met began an investigation following a referral from another police force. The investigation related to allegations of serious sexual offences against a teenage boy. These were reported to taken place between 1997 and 2000. As part of these enquiries, a man who was in his 40s at the time of the interview, was questioned by police under caution in July 2018. A full file of evidence was submitted to the Crown Prosecution Service, who determined the evidential threshold had not been met to bring charges. Following this advice, the investigation was closed in May 2019”
So the investigation began in December 2016, but the alleged sexual offences took place between 1997 – 2000. Which means Scott Mills would have been 24 – 27 at the time he allegedly committed these offences against a teenage boy.

Mills, now 53, was abruptly taken off air following his show on Tuesday, 24 March, where he had routinely told listeners he would be “back tomorrow”. Turns out he had been secretly suspended before being sacked yesterday morning.
A BBC spokesperson said: “While we do not comment on matters relating to individuals, we can confirm Scott Mills is no longer contracted and has left the BBC”.
Pretty mental that this remained a secret for so long, especially in this day and age, but the truth does tend to come out in the end. I guess we won’t be hearing from Scott Mills for a while, although he’ll probably be primed for an ‘I’m A Celebrity’ redemption arc next year or something.
Fair play to the BBC for acting fast on this one, although it would absolutely suck for Scott Mills if the allegations were untrue. After all, the charges were dropped in the end due to a lack of evidence. The guy was on £319,999 a year and now has to hide out at home for the foreseeable future. Unlucky.
