One of the only saving graces of Liz Truss’s short lived reign as Prime Minister was the meme about her and a lettuce started by The Economist and then expertly acquired by The Daily Star, who decided to live stream a picture of her and the lettuce to see which one would last longer.

As we all know, Truss resigned yesterday and so the lettuce managed to stay fresh longer than her time as PM. I’ve gotta say I was pretty surprised by that because it seemed absolutely ridiculous when it was first mooted, but I guess things really had gotten that bad for her and the Conservative Party.  What an absolute joke.

As if it wasn’t already embarrassing enough for Truss that she couldn’t last longer in office than a lettuce, somebody decided to beam an image of a lettuce on the House Of Parliament last night for her final humiliation. Absolute peak Britain right now isn’t it?

Later on, the lettuce was also pictured celebrating with some close friends like a banana, lemon and apple with a glass of Prosecco. Apparently the lettuce is 1000/1 to be the next Prime Minister with the leadership battle taking place next week.

To be honest, it’s probably the best candidate right now given how much of a shambles the Conservative party seems to be. Can it actually get any worse at this point? Probably.

For more of the same, check out this survey that says lettuce is three times worse for emissions than bacon. Bacon for next PM?
