A Concierge Refused To Call The Fire Department For Hotel Guests Stuck Inside An Elevator

I’m not sure what the protocol is exactly for when a group of guests get stuck inside the hotel elevator for 90+ minutes, but you’d think it might be a good idea to call 911 and get the fire department down ASAP to rescue your paying customers from a claustrophobic metal can.

Unfortunately, the concierge at this hotel in Toronto had other priorities; like avoiding a fee being charged to the hotel (per instructions from higher-ups, I guess):

I’m not sure why no one called 911 from their own phone (maybe they had no reception?) or why the guy didn’t pretend there was a bigger emergency, like a someone going into labour or something, but I guess he did say there was someone who was about to faint, which did actually happen in the end:

@furqanparekh0 She Passed out in the elevator as concierge wouldn’t call Fire Department… Or 911 #downtowntoronto #cntower #fypシ #foryoupagе #stuckinelevator #foru #foryoupageofficial #foruyou #for #14york🌃🏙️ #passedout #cityoftoronto🇨🇦🌇 #city #lifeinelevator #paramedic #firebrigade #passedout ♬ original sound – …

Welp, think it’s time this hotel rewrites the rule book on this one. The guy seemed pretty calm given the situation so I hope he was just saving it for when he was face-to-face with the concierge/hotel manager and gave them an earful. There are times when it’s OK to raise your voice and cuss, and this was certainly one of them!
