Although so many parts of this country have gone downhill in the past twenty years – the trains never run on time, energy costs are through the roof etc etc – I gotta say that I never seem to get stuck in a lift anymore and that happened a hell of a lot when I was a young kid. Something to be thankful for I suppose.

Unfortunately, the same can’t be said over in Russia where this video  of a man almost having his head chopped off by an elevator as he was walking in has recently gone viral. The video is actually quite hard to process first time around and almost looks a bit like an optical illusion because of what’s going on, but watch it a couple more times and you’ll see what’s up:

See what I mean? I thought the first time I saw it that the guy stepping out of the lift was actually stepping into it, so it completely threw me when the other guy was getting squished but after watching  it a couple of times I figured it out.

Anyway, how messed up is that? I’m fairly sure that over here and most other countries there are special censors in the doors that stop them from closing if something is in the way, but I guess that courtesy doesn’t extend to Krasnodar, Russia hey? Be careful if you’re over there.
