Mum Of British Woman, 23, Shot Dead By Dad After ‘Argument About Trump’ Speaks Out

The mum of British woman Lucy Harrison, who was shot dead in the U.S. by her dad last year, has said she feels ‘let down’ that he wasn’t charged.

Lucy Harrison, 23, from Warrington, Cheshire, was shot in the chest on 10 January last year at her father’s home in Prosper, near Dallas.

Lucy was visiting her dad while on holiday in the States and the two had argued over Trump earlier in the day. Can you guess which side her dad was on?

Local police investigated the death as manslaughter but no criminal case was brought against her father, Kris Harrison, after a Grand Jury decided it did not need to go to trial.

Back in the UK however, an inquest at Cheshire Coroner’s Court heard there was a “big argument” about Trump, who was about to be inaugurated to begin his second term.

Lucy’s boyfriend Sam Littler, who had travelled to the US with her, said she would become upset when her dad went into MAGA mode or spoke about owning a gun.

Littler said on the morning of hear death, Lucy had asked her dad (below) during a row about Trump: “How would you feel if I was the girl in that situation and I’d been sexually assaulted?”

Her dad said he had two other daughters who lived with him in the States, so it wouldn’t bother him that much.

Littler added: “Kris and Lucy ended up having quite a big argument, which led to Lucy running upstairs and being upset.”

Later that day, about half an hour before they were due to leave for the airport, Lucy was in the kitchen when her dad took her by the hand and led her into his ground floor bedroom.

About 15 seconds there was a loud bang and Kris Harrison began screaming for his wife, Heather.

Littler said: “I remember running into the room and Lucy was lying on the floor near the entrance to the bathroom and Kris was just screaming, just sort of nonsense.”

Harrison, who admitted he had ‘briefly lapsed’ back into alcohol consumption that same day, claims his gun ‘went off’ as he was showing it to his daughter.

Well apparently that was a good enough explanation for the authorities over in Texas, and it’s case closed as far they’re concerned.

Lucy’s mum Jane Coates has since spoken to Sky News about the lack of a charge and how she’s pushing for U.S. authorities to reopen the case and seek justice for her daughter.

She says: “I just feel she’s been so let down. I feel anger. My anger isn’t shouting and raging, I have a steely determination to call this out and to make sure the truth is heard.

“I am so grateful for our UK coroner for looking at all of the evidence, she had all of the evidence and she came to that unlawful killing conclusion.”

The grieving mum says she finds it ‘incredibly frustrating because there was physical evidence there’, including autopsy results which found her daughter had been shot through the heart with a ‘downward trajectory’.

Additionally, the inquest bundle had a diagram which showed ‘the positioning of the gun, the gun casing and Lucy’s blood stains on the floor’, indicating ‘she was not stood next to Kris as he had claimed’.

She says: “I feel anger that police actually took the time to draw this diagram, to see the measurements, to see where Lucy fell in relation to where the shell casing was.

“For me, it was like they had not chosen to follow the physical evidence.”

Indeed, it’s difficult to understand how a Grand Jury decided that these was no case to prosecute. An alcoholic, diehard MAGA dad who constantly argued with his liberal, gun-hating British daughter, takes her to his bedroom and accidentally shoots her while showing off his gun at her request?

Even if it was an accidental shooting, isn’t it still manslaughter?

It’s Texas, which is basically Trump country, so I wouldn’t hold out much hope that anything is done about this. Still, mental to think that someone can be such a big Trump fan that they’d shoot their own child for criticising him. Madness.
