British Man, 44, Almost Dies After Using Weight Loss Jabs He Bought Online
A dad-of-two who thought he had trapped wind was told the pain was actually his gallbladder rotting as a result of using weight loss jabs he had bought online.
Edd Langmead, 44, from Oldham, began his weight loss journey in May 2025 after tipping the scales at 130kg and deciding to finally do something about it.
Instead of hitting the gym, he went to his GP who told him there was a waiting list of 12+ months for weight-loss medication.
Well he wasn’t about to wait a whole year to lose the flab so instead he bought some Mounjaro from an online pharmacy and says he saw ‘instant results’.
However, as Mounjaro ain’t cheap, Edd tried out some cheaper weight loss jabs he found online which he says were not effective. So he went back on Mounjaro and got himself down to 91kg in no time – completely eliminating his back pain. Result!
Unfortunately, instead of back pain, he now had gut pain which he believed was trapped wind. Three days after the pain started in March this year, Edd collapsed on the floor and his partner rang for an ambulance which took him straight to hospital.
Doctors discovered he had gangrenous cholecystitis; a life-threatening condition where gallbladder tissue dies, and is believed to be linked to rapid weight loss.
Edd said: “I’ve struggled with weight all my life. “I went to my doctor to get on it [weight loss injections] and they said that the waiting list is more than twelve months. Everyone wants a quick fix don’t they? I did.
“I’d been suffering with back pain for the past three years, getting out of bed actually hurt, and within the first two months my back pain had gone. I didn’t have any bad side effects. It was up until that week, that’s the first bit of pain [I had]. I’ve dealt with trapped wind quite a lot and I know what it feels like. I got all these things from over the counter trying to relieve it but it didn’t do anything.
“I couldn’t sit or lie down without being in pain and it just kept getting worse and worse. My partner was meant to be going to work and I was doubled up in pain on the floor and could barely talk so she rang an ambulance.”
Edd had emergency surgery to remove his gallbladder and was told by docs he was lucky to be alive. He’s still recovering, unable to walk or lay down properly, and wishes he had just been patient and waited for the NHS to sort him out.
He said: “Once I found out it’d all gone wrong and was related to weight loss it put doubt in me [and] that maybe I should’ve just waited for the NHS. The online companies don’t show you those risks. There is a sadness that it happened like that for me because I’m sure that had I done it differently it wouldn’t have been that way.
“Make sure you go get regular blood tests. It’s not worth the risk.”
Wise words. Or better yet – start by eating healthy and exercising. Evidently these jabs are as bad or even worse for you than processed food if you don’t use them properly. Just one of many recent examples showing this is the case.
