Influencer Caught Smuggling £150,000 Of Cannabis From Thailand Faces Jail

A Scottish influencer who tried to smuggle more than £150,000 of cannabis through Edinburgh Airport from Thailand is facing jail.

Ellie Crampsie, 23, of Broomhouse, Glasgow, was busted after Border Force caught her smuggling 17.7kg of the drug through customs.

She had the haul vacuum-packed in 17 separate bags hidden inside her luggage after flying in to the Scottish capital from Bangkok via Paris.

Emma Laing, prosecuting, told Edinburgh Sherriff Court: ‘She was asked the usual questions by the officer and she confirmed she had travelled from Thailand.

‘Her luggage was opened and a number of vacuum packages were within.’

The Glasgow beauty business owner, who runs Brows by Ellie, has already pleaded guilty to supply charges. No mention of shady character in Bangkok threatening to murder her entire family if she didn’t take the drugs, which makes a change from all the other young, female Brits we’ve seen in her position.

All sentencing options, including prison, are now on the table. The good news for Ellie is that there’ve been loads of examples in recent times of young women just like her who smuggled drugs into the UK and were let off with a slap on the wrist.

Either way, she’s very lucky she didn’t get caught trying to pull this stunt on the Thailand side of her trip. She would be looking at a serious sentence in extremely nasty conditions and, if I may judge a book by its cover, would have been eaten alive in there. Is it really worth the risk?
