British Tourist Fighting For Life After ‘Breaking Back In 24 Places’ Following Balcony Fall In Thailand
British tourists & Thai balconies continue to be a dangerous mix this year, with another Brit having now sustained severe injuries after falling from a hotel balcony.
Beth Klug, from Grimsby, Lincolnshire, returned to her hotel room in Pattaya in the early hours of March 15 before somehow falling from the fourth-floor balcony.
Klug landed on a concrete plant box and reportedly shattered her arms and broke her back in 24 places.

A hotel security guard found her moaning in pain while lying on shrubs on the side of the 22-storey building.
He said: ‘While I was on duty, I heard a sound like a large object falling and hitting the bushes.
‘I rushed to investigate and found a human body that had fallen and was crying for help. I then immediately notified the authorities.’
Klug is currently being treated in a ward in Pattaya, where friends describe her as being in “serious pain” and “seriously injured”. Her pals are desperately trying to raise funds for her medical treatment and repatriation to the UK.
While she did have travel insurance, the provider requires a formal police report before releasing funds for her care. The British Embassy is now assisting in expediting this process.

Local authorities are reviewing CCTV footage to determine the exact cause of the fall, which could also be crucial in any insurance payout.
Beth’s friend, Kim Lyall, says: ‘Beth has insurance, but they need the police report before they start paying. The embassy has been involved in hurrying things up.
‘She’s in a lot of pain, as you can imagine. She can’t move her arms at all. They shattered. So let’s pray we get her home soon.
‘She’s still a young lass on her own in a foreign hospital, laid up in pain. People need to show some compassion.’
Let’s hope the paperwork gets sorted soon because it’s brutal to think this girl is laying there in a hospital in Pattaya with all these catastrophic injuries and can’t be adequately treated until the police report is sorted. You might think she’s fortunate to have landed on a plant box that had shrubbery around it to cushion her fall somewhat; but clearly it wasn’t much of a cushion if her arms and back are shattered.
Get well soon, Beth, and a healthy reminder to anyone else in Thailand to take care on balconies.
