John Davidson Reportedly Also Shouted N-Word At Wunmi Mosaku At BAFTAs
John Davidson reportedly also shouted out the N-word at Wunmi Mosaku when she won Best Supporting Actress for ‘Sinners’ at the BAFTAs.
BBC’s Director General says this instance did get edited out of the broadcast, unlike the other one, because there was “confusion between the first time it was yelled and the second.”
Tim Davie says: “Our understanding at this point is that the team editing the show in the truck mistakenly believed they had edited out the incident that was being referenced, on the basis that they had heard and edited out the slur shouted out during the Best Supporting Actress award. Therefore, when they were told a racial slur had been shouted, they believed they had removed it.” (via Deadline)

Well, I guess that explains things. Wunmi Mosaku collected her award around 10 minutes after John Davidson had yelled the N-word the first time, when Michael B. Jordan and Delroy Lindo were on stage.
The BBC’s editing team heard and removed the slur shouted during Mosaku’s speech. However, they mistakenly believed this was the only instance, leading them to inadvertently leave the first outburst (during Jordan and Lindo’s segment) in the broadcast despite having a two-hour delay to deal with it. There were two N-word shouts in around 10 minutes, but they were only aware of the second one.
Wunmi Mosaku has stated that while she has “no hard feelings” toward Davidson due to his condition, the BBC’s failure to censor the other slur “tainted” her celebration and “kept [her] awake at night”.
A lot of people might give Davidson grief for not immediately leaving the room after the first involuntary N-word, but he did end up leaving the auditorium early after the second N-word.

Fair play to Mosaku for stating she has “no hard feelings” towards Davidson, which is more than what can be said for Delroy Lindo and Michael B. Jordan.
Obviously it must have sucked being up there and having to endure that, but surely it would be decent of them to acknowledge that it was an involuntary utterance by a man with Tourette’s, especially when others have been so ignorant and vicious about it.
For example – rapper David Banner says he “would have put hands on that white boy” had he been in the room on the night. What a guy.
