Olympian Wins Medal, Confesses To Cheating On His Girlfriend And Starts Crying Mid-Interview
Norwegian biathlete Sturla Holm Laegreid has confessed to cheating on his girlfriend during a live interview shortly after winning a bronze medal at the 2026 Winter Olympics in Italy.
Laegrid, 28, secured bronze in the Men’s 20km Individual biathlon and then bizarrely decided to talk about how he cheated on his girlfriend and how much he regrets it.
Laegreid said: “Six months ago I met the love of my life – the most beautiful and kindest person in the world. And three months ago I made my biggest mistake and cheated on her.
“I had a gold medal in my life. I only have eyes for her. I don’t know what I want to achieve by saying this, but sports have been in a different line in recent days. So I wish I could share it with her.”
The Olympian said he had ‘nothing to lose’ and had ‘screwed up so badly’ his ‘chance at true love’, and that’s why he wanted to make this grand gesture… of letting the world know he’d cheated on his girlfriend?

Well, it’s a hell of thing to admit on live TV after winning a bronze medal at the Winter Olympics, but I guess he’s about to find out if huge, public, televised declarations like this are appreciated by women or whether it only works in Romcoms.
Obviously it would have better if he won gold, but then you can’t really expect someone to be focused enough to clinch 1st place when all they can think about is the girlfriend they cheated on and what they’re going to say in the speech about it afterwards.
At the end of the day, if Laegreid’s ex forgives him and runs back into his arms after all this, it will have been worth it. Otherwise I’m not sure he’s ever going to live this down. But hey, at least he can say he tried.
