Lostprophets Fan Reveals Ian Watkins’ Sick Request For Her Baby Before His Arrest
A former Lostprophets superfan named Hannah (not her real name) has spoken to The Sun about her sickening interactions with Ian Watkins that occured shortly before he was arrested and charged with multiple sexual offences, including sexual offences against children.
Watkins had served 12 years of a 35-year sentence before having his throat slashed by two fellow inmates at Wakefield Prison in West Yorkshire, with police since confirming that Rashid Gedel, 25, and Samuel Dodsworth, 43, have since been charged with his murder.
Now, with the disgraced paedophile singer’s name back in the news, more of his alleged victims are coming forward to share their experiences with Watkins.
Healthcare assistant Hannah says she was 17 when she sent Watkins a message on social media in hopes that he would notice her. Sure enough, he did, and it didn’t take long for things to turn dark.
Hannah said: ‘He used to ask me to go on the webcam. At one point I did, and he was there, and I panicked so I shut it off. He then messaged me again and asked me to go on the webcam naked.’
Watkins was persistent, calling Hannah back on Skype and asking if she would bring herself and her baby daughter to meet him in person.
‘In my head, I thought “No, I’m not doing that”. He asked if my baby would be able to call him dad. He asked me if we could be used as sex slaves. Not long after that, he was arrested and then everything came out.
‘I didn’t realise how much it has affected me – it’s really, really bad. It’s sickening really – it makes me physically sick.’
She did actually consider meeting him at one point:
‘My friend was there at one point when he was sending me messages, and we thought about going to meet him when he asked but we didn’t in the end.
‘My friend and I went to see them on tour in Preston in November 2012 before he started messaging me and his tour manager was there – he seemed to be interested in us two.
‘I’m just glad in that aspect I had my wits about me that I didn’t go and meet him.
‘I don’t know what would have happened.’
It might have been a good idea to go to the police back then instead of waiting 10+ years and after his murder to sell her story to The Sun, but then apparently that would have been a waste of time because Watkins’ own girlfriend attempted to warn the police about him in 2008, but was not taken seriously.
Watkins’ depraved behaviour was only uncovered following the execution of a drugs warrant at his home in 2012, when a large number of computers, mobile phones, and storage devices were seized. Police went through the devices and found evidence of the horrific crimes he had been committing.
In 2013, Watkins admitted to a string of child sex abuse offences, including trying to rape a fan’s 11-month-old son and conspiring to rape another’s daughter.
In one attack, he was filmed trying to rape a baby twice.
Among 90 abuse images on his devices, 24 were level five, the most serious category.
And to think, if it wasn’t for the execution of that drugs warrant, Ian Watkins may still be alive and free and abusing children to this day. Mental to think that he had fans out there who actually did allow him to abuse their children (two of them were also jailed in 2013). Fortunately, Hannah wasn’t quite that sick in the head.
