Ian Watkins’ Lostprophets Bandmate Breaks Silence After Paedophile Stabbed To Death In Prison
Former Lostprophets member Lee Gaze has spoken out following the news that disgraced bandmate Ian Watkins was killed in prison, after some people on X reached out to him and the band saying that they hoped everyone was doing OK in the aftermath.
Gaze mostly responded to comments with a prayer emoji, and said ‘thanks for the kind words’ to someone who told the guitarist ‘you’ve created things beyond him’.
Someone then shared footage from a 2010 Myspace interview where a social media user called ‘baby girl’ asked Watkins what his guilty pleasure was, and Watkins said ‘you just answered it’, which obviously takes on a sick new meaning now in hindsight.
Someone reacting to the footage said it was ‘easy to look at things with the benefit of hindsight’, and Gaze replied: “Yeh, and that sick c**t obvs knew what he was saying. I can assure you had any of us known he’d never of made it as far as prison.”
Following Watkins’ guilty plea back in December 2013, Gaze, talking of the band’s horrified reaction, had said: ‘There was two sets of it [shock] because there were the accusations – which was one thing.
‘And then there was the actual, “Yeah I did do it” which was a year later. He dragged that out for a year, so we got hit by it twice.’
He added: ‘How could you know? How would you know?
‘Who would disclose such a thing to five people, who between them have eight children? You just wouldn’t because they would be killed on the spot.’
Man, what an emotional rollercoaster that must have been. Imagine the guilt these poor guys must have felt when discovering their trusted friend and bandmate was a demonic child abuser, and that they’d actually brought their kids around him. The sense of relief when he was imprisoned must have been immense, but probably nothing compared to how they feel now that he’s dead.
Two men aged 25 and 43 have been charged with the murder, which involved slashing Watkins’ throat in his cell at 9am – bright and early.
Meanwhile, Watkins’ ex-girlfriend has also spoken out. She tried to warn police about his behaviour way back in 2009, but they didn’t take her seriously until 2012. Shocking.
