Decarlos Brown Jr Reveals Motive For Killing Ukrainian Refugee Iryna Zarutska On Train In Charlotte, NC

Accused killer Decarlos Brown Jr has reportedly told his family he stabbed Ukrainian refugee Iryna Zarutska to death on board a train in Charlotte, North Carolina, because he believed she was reading his mind, according to his sister.

Iryna, 23, escaped the war in her homeland by fleeing to Charlotte, North Carolina in the US, believing she would be safer there. She ended up being stabbed to death on a train by paranoid schizophrenic Decarlos Brown Jr, a career criminal with multiple prior arrests and convictions, including an assault on another female (his sister, as it goes).

Initially, Brown Jr told other passengers on board the train that he stabbed Iryna because she called him the N-word. ..

… which is complete BS, of course, because surveillance footage showed her getting on the train and sitting down in front him without saying a word and just minding her own business. We won’t share the video (it’s easy enough to find online), but it’s absolutely heartbreaking to watch, as Iryna is at first completely stunned by the assault, and then puts her face in her hands and collapses to the ground.

It’s just so infuriating to know that Decarlos Brown Jr should not have been free in the first place, with 21 separate mugshots, 16 previous court cases, and multiple convictions including theft, robbery with a dangerous weapon, assault, breaking and entering, and communicating threats on his record.  His most recent arrest was for misuse of the 911 system, when he told cops someone had given him a ‘man-made’ material that controlled his actions.

His sister Tracey Brown told CNN that her brother is a paranoid schizophrenic who told her multiple times that the government had implanted a chip in him:

“A person that is hearing voices in their head and believes the world is against them, they’re going to break. And I think that night he broke.”

Iryna Zarutska, 23, was found dead on Friday at South End light rail station in North Carolina. She had recently fled the war in her home country of Ukraine

In audio of Brown’s phone conversation with his sister from jail, he claims “the material in his body” — not he — had killed Iryna.

He said: “I hurt my hand, stabbing her. I don’t even know the lady. I never said not one word to the lady at all. That’s scary, ain’t it. Why would somebody stab somebody for no reason?”

Tracey then asks: “Out of all people, why her? She’s from the Ukraine, she’s from Russia, and they had a war going on against the United States, so I’m just trying to understand, of all people, why her?”

Brown responds: “They just lashed out on her, that’s what happened. Whoever was working the materials, they lashed out on her. That’s all there is to it. Now they really gotta investigate what my body was exposed to … Now they gotta do an investigation as to who was the motive behind what happened.”

Jesus Christ. You really can’t help but put the blame on lawmakers and/or authorities who should have seen to it that Decarlos Brown Jr was in a mental care facility, at the very least. As his sister said, it was only a matter of time before he caused serious harm to someone.

His sister said: “He was a high risk. He was not in his right mind. He was not safe for society. And now an innocent woman is dead.”

Hopefully for the good of society, Decarlos Brown will be locked up for life this time. In fact, would anyone have a problem if they gave him the death penalty? I doubt it.

RIP Iryna and thoughts with her friends and family as they come to grips with their loss.
