Following his resignation from the Academy and imminent ‘disciplinary proceedings’ for assaulting Chris Rock at the Oscars, Will Smith’s acting career is set to face further consequences as a whole bunch of movies he was working on are suspended or scrapped completely.

According to the Hollywood Reporter, Netflix film ‘Fast And Loose’ which was due to star Will has been shelved in light of the scandal. Funnily enough the film’s director David Leitch had pulled out of the project a week before the Oscars and Netflix were frantically searching for a replacement, so at least they won’t have to worry about that now. ‘Fast And Loose’ was set to tell the story of a crime lord who loses his memory and then tries to rebuild his life.

Furthermore, TMZ reports that Will’s other Netflix projects, ‘The Council’ and ‘Bright 2’ are also set to be binned. ‘The Council’ was set to tell the story of a crime syndicate made up of seven African-American men who ruled Harlem in the 70s and 80s. ‘Bright 2’ of course would have been the sequel to 2017 film ‘Bright’ in which Will played a detective working alongside an Orc to find a powerful wand.

Aside from Netflix, Will’s Oscars outburst has also got Apple+ panicking. They were deep in post-production on a drama titled ‘The Emancipation’ which featured Will as a runaway slave from a Louisiana plantation. The film had already been tipped to land Will another Best Actor nomination, but its 2022 release has now been suspended. Obviously as the film is basically complete, it will presumably see the light of day eventually.

It’s also claimed that ‘Bad Boys 4’, which had been in active development at Sony has now been put on pause. It could get worse for Will still, according to TMZ:

There are other Sony-tied films of his (either as a producer or actor) that might see the same fate including a Hancock sequel and a Karate Kid sequel.

He’s got a production company now… so beyond just starring in films, he’s heavily involved in making them lately.

Well, it’s a bit of a bummer really. Will Smith might be a bit of a d*ckhead but he’s still an incredible entertainer so it does suck that a whole bunch of potentially awesome movies have been sidelined because of his stupidity. Not that the world needs another Bad Boys movie but the rest of those sound like they would have been worth watching at least. What would be really funny now is if production started on G.I. Jane 2 starring Jada Pinkett Smith. As for Will, I guess he’ll be sitting at home and counting his money until this all blows over. He’s currently worth $350M – I’m sure he’ll be alright.
