Doppelgängers Will Ferrell And Chad Smith Have An Epic Drum-Off, Get Joined By The Rest Of The Red Hot Chili Peppers

Quite simply, the drum battle to end all drum battles.

It’s been well documented over the years that Will Ferrell and Red Hot Chili Peppers drummer Chad Smith look frighteningly identical, with the pair being commonly mistaken for one another for years.

This has fuelled huge ‘tension’ between the two, and the result of this pent-up aggression came to a head last night on the Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon, where they gave an interview with Fallon and went on to settle the dispute in the best way possible: with a drum-off, of course. They’re even dressed identically throughout the show, making it genuinely quite difficult to distinguish who is who.

Talk of a Ferrell versus Smith drum-off had begun as early as February, when Smith issued a public message to Ferrell, in which he said, ”Stop impersonating me. In fact, I need you … drum battle. Me and you. I’ve seen your skills; you don’t got ‘em. Let’s go. Golden cowbell. Winner. Boom!”

Not only did the result of this produce the drum battle to end all drum battles, but the ultimate doppelgängers of modern civilisation also managed to raise $300,000 for charities Cancer for College and Little Kids Rock. AND at the end of the battle, the rest of the Red Hot Chili Peppers appeared for a surprise performance. Bad ass.
