6. Dog Survives Frozen Wilderness Then Gets Run Over

Dempsey was vacationing in Maine with his owners a couple of weeks back. For some reason he decided to make a run for it. He scaled a 9ft fence and made off into the woods. No one knows why he went off, maybe he just wanted some alone time, maybe he was sick of playing fetch, it must get pretty dull I guess?

Maine is pretty cold this time of year, nights are always well below zero. His owners looked for him for a few days and then gave up, surely no one could survive those harsh nights, let alone a soppy pet dog from Maryland.

What Dempsey was up to all alone for over a week we’ll never know, but on the ninth day of his endurance test he was greeted with the bonnet of a car. Injured, tired and probably a little bit peed off, he ran for cover. People followed his tracks to an outhouse where a cold, starving and dented dog was preparing to die. He was taken to the vets and is now recuperating back in Maryland with his owners. Stupid dog.
