Somehow, among the bedlam he managed to fit in a reality show which features himself and 20 girls all vying for his attention. Wonder how he came up with that idea? Genius. The sponsors were less than impressed with the show’s dirty Vybz vibes though. Here’s the trailer for their “too hot for TV” version of the show:

And just like Michael Jackson, he’s had numerous run-ins with the law. He was jailed for the murder of Barrington ‘Bossie’ Burton, he got bail but they kept him in for the murder of someone else – Clive ‘Lizard’ Williams, and that’s where he currently resides.  He is still releasing stuff through Vice Records though and doing very well too. He even found time to slag off his old Gaza buddies Popcaan and Tommy Lee in a memo last week, calling them opportunists, fakes and traitors to Gaza. So even though he’s behind Jamaican bars he’s still causing a ruckus. His trial started in November 2013. His long-term business partner, Correy Todd said in an interview before the trial began that he was confident he would get out.

His confidence was misplaced, after the longest trial the island had ever seen he was finally convicted of murder and sentenced to 25 years. One of the pivotal bits of evidence was a text message that Vybz sent saying he was going to cut Clive ‘Lizard’ Jones into so many small pieces he’d never be found.

Although jailed, he’s released a video for the track “My Crew” from his hit album “Kingston Story” last year. Grab a can of Lilt, light up a Rastafarian old Holborn and enjoy…. (as long as you can put up with those vocoder vocals that are all too prevalent these days).
