Trump Says Saudi Crown Prince Has Done A ‘Phenomenal Job’ After Being Asked About Murdered Journalist Jamal Khashoggi

Respect to whoever the reporter was at the Oval Office this week who brought up the 2018 murder of Jamal Khashoggi – a journalist who had disrespected the Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman, and ended up being kidnapped, murdered and dismembered (allegedly).

Naturally, Trump came to the defence of his royal guest and answered the question for him, scolding the reporter for ’embarrassing’ the Crown Prince:

Trump also dragged Khashoggi’s name through the mud in the process: “You’re mentioning somebody that was extremely controversial. A lot of people didn’t like that gentleman that you’re talking about. Whether you like him or didn’t like him, things happen, but he knew nothing about it. And would you leave it at that? You don’t have to embarrass our guest by asking a question.”

Khashoggi had entered the Saudi Arabian consulate in Istanbul on 2 October 2018 to obtain documents related to his upcoming wedding, but was not seen on CCTV exiting the building. Turkish officials inspected the consulate two weeks later on 15 October, and found evidence that Khashoggi had been killed and dismembered, and that chemical experts had tampered with evidence.

The CIA – during Trump’s first term, mind you – then concluded that Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman had ordered Khashoggi’s assassination.

I guess it’s one of those things where everyone knows what happened but nothing will ever be done about it because Mohammed bin Salman is simply too rich and powerful and evil, and has people like Trump defending him no matter what he does. It is what it is.
