Troy Deeney has been sacked as Forest Green Rovers manager after just six games in charge, where he managed to win 0 games and also got a four-game touchline ban nine days into his first managerial job.

Aside from that, he kept calling his players sh1t and wouldn’t stop throwing them under the bus during interviews. For example:

He had also ripped into his players during a 12-minute rant on BBC Radio, in which he said:

“The amount of nonsense you have to deal with at this place, from players by the way, is embarrassing. I was trying to be nice and cosy my way into it. But what is going to have to happen is the sledgehammers are going to have to come out and there are going to be a lot of people that won’t like it, but I do not really care.”

“My job is to try and save this football club in the short term, but also to put it in a better place moving forward and at the moment there are too many babies and that is not just young players, there are too many babies from top to bottom.”

“First half was boring, I’d rather watch frigging Antiques Roadshow than that. No offence to anyone that likes Antiques Roadshow.”

“[Reece Brown] is my senior midfielder, but he can’t turn up for work on time. If you were an employer and you had someone turn up late twice in two days, would you put them in your squad? Would you trust him to get you through a game?”

“Dabo was poor and awful again and I have just told him that he will not be playing on Tuesday. He has not been good enough for eight or nine weeks, why do you think he was dropped at the start.

“I have just told him in front of everyone, six months ago that kid had a kick to go to the Premier League, now he would not get a game in the National League, so is that me or him?

“He’s faster than everybody, but he gets run every game, he never makes a tackle and every time the ball comes to him, he looks like he kicks it with his shin pads.”

Lol – imagine showing up to training after listening to that. Sounds more like a Roy Keane-style pundit taking a dump on players rather than a manager trying to engage his players and spur them on. I doubt any of his players appreciated him talking about them like that in front of thousands of people.

So yeah, that’s that for Troy Deeney’s first managerial gig. A total and utter flop that leaves Forest Green bottom of League Two and seven points from safety. Let’s hope they get someone in that can motivate them a little bit. Would be pretty funny if they now went on a winning run while Deeney looks for his next job (good luck with that).
