The world of pro wrestling is compeltely and utterly weird and we’ve thankfully been given an insight into it through a whole bunch of different books and VICE’s enormously popular ‘Dark Side Of The Ring’ TV show.

It’s a slow news day going into the weekend so I thought I would share this clip that VICE just stuck up on the internet from it focussing on an event called ‘The Tournament Of Death’ and a match where deathmatch specialist Nick Gage genuinely ended up dead for seven minutes. I don’t really think I need to do any more of an intro there for that one do I?

Jesus Christ that’s scary isn’t it? Just the fact that he’s so desperate to get back into the ring and finish the match despite the fact that he’s literally losing blood at an unprecedented rate is insane to me. I know that Mick Foley went back to the ring to finish the match in the infamous Hell In A Cell match against The Undertaker in 1998, but that was a WWE PPV broadcast to millions of people around the world. In comparison this is just a few hundred hicks in the middle of nowhere in Delaware. Unparalleled commitment to his craft.

Would normally sign something like this off by telling him to slow down and be careful but I don’t think Nick Gage is really going to pay any attention to that. Guy died for seven minutes ffs.

For more of the same, check out when David Arquette took part in a dangerous wrestling death match that went way off script. Guess who his opponent was?
