Juan Cabral was a man who thought to himself, “How do we sell chocolate?” The answer he arrived at was Phil Collins and a gorilla, which may have worried some at ad agency Fallon London, who had been given £6 million for a series of adverts for Cadbury. Cabral’s surreal video, which featured actor Garon Michael in a gorilla suit playing drums to Collin’s classic “In The Air Tonight,” received 500,000 views on YouTube in the first week of release in 2007, and was watched 6 million times that year.

Old Spice — The Man Your Man Could Smell Like

With the off-the-wall tag-line; “We’re not saying this body wash will make your man smell like a romantic millionaire jet fighter pilot, but we are insinuating it,” Old Spice re-launched their flagging range of men’s body products with gusto in 2010. Starring charismatic actor Isaiah Mustafa, this cheeky and irresistible video managed to clock up 6.7 million views on YouTube in the 24 hour period after it launched, and 23 million views the day after, making it the fastest growing online viral campaign ever. That’s not bad going for a body wash.
