‘Tiger King’ and ‘Coronavirus’ are the two biggest cultural phenomenons of 2020 and the world will literally never be the same again thanks to the impact both have had, so I suppose it’s not really that much of a surprise that the two have teamed up after a tiger tested positive for Coronavirus in a New York City zoo.

The tiger in question is a four year old Malayan named Nadia that resides at the Bronx Zoo and was tested for Coronavirus after she displayed a lack of appetite and a dry cough. She wasn’t the only animal that had fallen sick at the zoo, with six other lions and tigers displaying symptoms. Nadia is the only that has tested positive at this point though.

Here’s what the official statement said:

(Nadia), her sister Azul, two Amur tigers and three African lions had developed a dry cough and all are expected to recover’ the Wildlife Conservation Society announced Sunday.

Though they have experienced some decrease in appetite, the cats at the Bronx Zoo are otherwise doing well under veterinary care and are bright, alert and interact with their keepers.

Well that’s a bit of a curveball isn’t it? Until now it wasn’t thought that Coronavirus could be infected by the virus but it looks like that theories out the window now. There’s still no evidence that animals can transmit the virus or that it can be transmitted to your pets or animals if you own any, but it’s still kinda worrying isn’t it? What else is gonna happen with this virus before we finally get it under control and can go on living our lives again?

For more of the same, check out a new episode of Tiger King on Netflix this week. What?
