Scanner Cop – 1994

David Cronenberg unleashed Scanners in 1981. The story told one of individuals who possessed telepathic powers, the most famous scene being the head explosion.  Scanner Cop was by all accounts the fourth entry into the series, and with it being released in the 90s it was only right they stuck “Cop” into the title. The film follows the original in as much as having a cop who is a Scanner, thats about it. Most of the original mythology has been lost and has just been used to cash in on the original and chuck out some bargain basement violence.  The over acting along with the cheap special effect make for a enjoyable hour and half, just maybe not for the right reasons.
