It seems like I say this every year, but pigs in blankets are everyone’s favourite part of their Christmas dinner so it makes sense that people are trying to incorporate them in other dishes wherever they can – I don’t think I ever even contemplated that someone might come up with a pigs in blankets cheesecake thought.

However, I clearly didn’t reckon with the guys from Pleesecakes, who have debuted what they’re calling the Notorious P.I.G. They’re labelling it their most controversial cake ever for obvious reasons and they’re making it with cheddar cheese, rosemary, caramelised onion and of course pigs in blankets.

Here’s what Pleesecakes had to say about the launch:

Pigs in Blankets are everyone’s favourite festive snack and the ultimate Christmas dinner side… but how about as a topping on a cheesecake?

Putting those little salty morsels on a well-deserved pedestal is Pleesecakes with its most controversial cake to date, The Notorious P.I.B. A cheddar cheese, oatmeal and thyme base with a savoury cheesecake filling containing fresh thyme, sage and pigs in blankets, topped with a sweet caramelised onion chutney, a generous portion of crispy pigs in blankets, and fresh sprigs of thyme and rosemary.

I never thought I would say this, but that almost sounds like there are too many pigs in blankets involved with the cheesecake? Surely you don’t need them inside it as well as on top of it? I mean I’ll try it because I love pigs in blankets and cheesecake, I’m just not sure if they’re gonna be able to pull it off. I’ll let you know.

It’s a bit on the pricey side at £36 but when you consider that it can feed between ten and twelve people then it’s probably a fairly decent price. Worth checking out if you love pigs in blankets and who doesn’t?

For more of the same, here’s a pigs in blankets pizza from Lidl. They’re everywhere this year.
