Too funny. “PC Plod searching Postman Pat” – gotta hand it to London postie Jamie Dragon for that classic line. Would be great to get some backstory on this though, as it does seem pretty outrageous that the police would stop and search a postman in the middle of his round. Did someone tip them off? Were the Royal Mail aware this was going to happen to one of their employees?

Here’s what Jamie, 34, told Metro:

I was just minding my own business delivering mail like I did every day. I don’t even know how it started.

They had asked me what I was doing, and I just asked what they thought I was doing – I was delivering mail.

I decided to get out my phone and video it and was asking why they were harassing me at work and saying it was wrong.

I was saying that I wasn’t even off route, and I said they could look at the addresses on the letters in my hand and look at the address on the door.

I was quite p***ed off at the time to be honest. Then they said that I was going to be detained.

At first I laughed at him because it was so ridiculous. I wasn’t putting up a fight or being argumentative.

I was cooperating and I even put out my hands to let him put on his handcuffs. I was just so shocked – I wasn’t even being rude or anything.

Well, I mean, he was being kinda rude. But that’s neither here nor there. The point is the police didn’t find anything on him and even handled everyone’s mail to reach that conclusion. What if they decide to search the Just Eat delivery guy next time and finger your Chinese food? Not very cool if you ask me.

In the end, Jamie decided not to file a complaint over the search, but instead shared the footage online for our entertainment. Fair play.

For the postman who felt so ‘pressured’ to deliver mail that he hid it all in a storage unit instead, click HERE. Problem solved!
