You’ve probably heard that legendary fashion designer Karl Lagerfield passed away this morning after being rushed to hospital at the age of 85, but I’m not sure if you’ll be able to see or believe the response from PETA to his death.

Lagerfeld and PETA obviously never saw eye to eye due to his penchant for designing collections that heavily featured fur and exotic skins, but even so it seems that at least in his death they might have been able to let bygones be bygones and not gleefully comment on it. Unfortunately, that isn’t really the case as PETA founder Ingrid Newkirk released the following statement:

Karl Lagerfeld has gone, and his passing marks the end of an era when fur and exotic skins were seen as covetable.

PETA sends condolences to our old nemesis’s loved ones.

I mean I guess there’s some condolences but it’s pretty snide and snarky isn’t it? Perhaps they could have said something like that a couple of weeks after his death but it seems a bit raw to come out with it about a couple of hours afterwards.

Wouldn’t be surprised if they stage some kind of protest at his funeral to be honest. And people wonder why there’s such negativity associated with the vegetarian/vegan movement! This is why – sort it out PETA and maybe treat humans with as much compassion as you treat animals.

For more of the same, check out this vegan guy’s awful dating video. Seriously creepy.
