We haven’t even seen the fifth season of popular television show Peaky Blinders yet, but hot off the news that a sixth season was being written, creator Steven Knight has decided to confirm that the show will be returning for a seventh season as well.

Knight was speaking with TalkSport when he revealed the news, as well as a couple of tidbits about the new series too:

We just finished shooting a week and a half ago. Series 5 is done. I can honestly say that it’s the best yet. It’s really good. It’s fantastic and it all fell together beautifully. Great performances and I think audiences are going to be on the edge of their seats..

I did some research because the new series starts in 1929. In that era, some of the most notorious gangs were in Glasgow. This (season) is about a particular gang called The Billy Boys who become an issue for our friends in Birmingham.

Arthur is going to lose it big time in some of the upcoming seasons. We’ll almost certainly be doing seven.

I mean it makes sense because most of the best TV shows seem to start losing the plot and going crappy after seven seasons. You’ve gotta have a coherent beginning, middle and end otherwise you just keep plodding on forever like Supernatural or The Walking Dead and become a shadow of their once great shows. All good things must come to an end and all that.

For more Peaky Blinders, here’s the first footage from Season Five. Can’t wait.
