Ozzy Osbourne Closes The Commonwealth Games With Surprise Performance

The Commonwealth Games have been receiving more attention than I can ever remember this year – probably due to a combination of the hangover from COVID and that they’re being held in Birmingham – but I honestly don’t think anyone ever expected Ozzy Osbourne and (what’s left of) Black Sabbath to show up for the closing ceremony.

Obviously the band are forever associated with their home town of Birmingham, but Ozzy’s recent health scares meant that nobody saw the performance coming. And what’s more the band sounded better than ever with Ozzy’s vocals totally on point as they ripped through Paranoid and delayed the beginning of the 10 o’clock BBC News.

Check out a couple of clips from the show below:

OK, so he doesn’t really look like he can move that well but the fact that he’s a 73 year old man with Parkinson’s recovering from surgery gives him a pass on that front. Especially because he’s a 73 year old man who’s lived the life that Ozzy Osbourne has.

Gotta love him shouting ‘Birmingham Forever’ at the end too, but then I suppose I’m a bit biased being from the city myself. What a great event – let’s hope it’s not the last time that we ever see him rocking out on stage.

For more of the same, check out this scientist saying that Ozzy Osbourne only survived his life of excess due to a genetic mutation. Might be true you know.
