It’s been over two years since Making A Murderer managed to capture the imaginations of pretty much the whole entire world and whilst a few true crime dramas have tried to capture what that show brought to the table, I don’t think any of the pretenders can truly claim to have had such an impact as that one. A truly innovative, classic TV series.

That’s not to say that people are going to stop trying though and the latest heir to the throne is Netflix’s own ‘The Staircase’. This 13 part drama (13 parts!!!) tells the true story of crime author Michael Peterson, whose wife Kathleen was found dead at the bottom of their staircase on December 9th 2001. The series will follow Peterson’s attempts to clear his name after he’s accused of first degree murder in relation to the case.

You can check out the trailer below:

Well boy does that look intense. I really want to know what happened but I’ve managed to resist Googling it so far and I’m hoping that I’ll be able to do that before June 8th so I can binge watch it all in one go. Fingers crossed.

The fact that it’s 13 episodes might hinder this though as there’s so much to get through. The fact that it’s so long has got me really intrigued because even Making A Murderer was only 10 and it seemed to drag at points. Can this series really have that many twists and turns? Obviously the ‘he’s bisexual’ part of the trailer was a highlight and is surely going to lead to an interesting couple of episodes. Can’t really wait to see where it all goes to be honest.

If you’re having trouble too waiting for this show, maybe check out Netflix’s The Keepers from last year. Also on a similar vibe and very, very good.
