If you thought you had family problems, maybe this story out of Russia will put things into perspective.
A 46-year-old woman from the Chelyabinsk region, known only as Svetlana, has been arrested after arranging the contract killing of her 12-year-old daughter.
The mum discussed the killing with a male acquaintance; reportedly asking that the girl be drowned in a river to make it look like a freak accident.
According to reports, Svetlana offered approximately $1000 to the would-be assassin, Andrey, 36, to carry out the act. Unbeknownst to her, her daughter had been eavesdropping and overheard her mum’s conversation.
Eventually, Svetlana sent her daughter off with Andrey, who was supposed to execute the plan. Fortunately for her, Andrey felt bad about the whole thing and reassured the girl that he would protect her. He took her to his home and contacted police. Nice one, Andrey! The guy must have an incredible poker face.
‘When they were walking along the road, the schoolgirl was very afraid and worried.
‘But the man told her everything and promised to protect her.
‘He hid the girl at his home and went to the police.’
Svetlana told police she was ‘tired’ of her daughter’s ‘bad behaviour’ and their ‘constant arguments’. And so naturally, she arranged to have her killed. Who even knew that was an option?
The mum-of-four now faces a 15-year prison sentence for incitement to murder a minor.
Meanwhile, the girl has been placed into care along with two of her siblings, aged 17 and six. The other sibling is 18.
Can’t even begin to imagine the amount of therapy this 12-year-old girl will need in the near future. I mean, is there anything more traumatic than discovering your parents tried to assassinate you? Although at least she hired an assassin to do it rather than murdering her daughter with her own bare hands. No doubt her lawyer will bring that up in court to argue that she has at least a smidgen of humanity left inside her.
