In case you don’t know, Megan Thee Stallion has taken fellow rapper Tory Lanez to court after he allegedly shot her in the foot at Kylie Jenner’s house party in the Hollywood Hills back in 2020. Unfortunately, the court case is not being televised, and they’ve probably missed a trick there because the details are pretty mental.

Recounting the incident in court this week, Megan said she left Jenner’s party in a vehicle with Lanez, his bodyguard and her friend. The pair, who were friends and had ‘an occasional sexual relationship’, started bantering each other and making digs about each other’s music and careers. “I feel like that really rubbed him the wrong way,” she said. “He kept yelling and cursing.”

Megan said she was wearing a bikini, but got out of the vehicle and tried to walk away. At that point, Lanez leaned out of the car, yelled “dance, b*tch, dance!” and started shooting at her feet. “I looked down at my feet, and I see all the blood,” she said. “Now everybody’s screaming. He looked shocked.”

Lanez, who faces up to 22 years in prison, argues that Megan’s injury showed she could not have had a clear look at whoever shot the gun, despite the fact that he apparently texted Megan 15 hours after the incident, apologising and saying he was drunk:

I know u prolly never gone talk to me again, but I genuinely want u to know I’m sorry from the bottom of my heart. I was just too drunk.

We all make mistakes when we’re drunk, right? Texts we shouldn’t have sent, words we shouldn’t have said, people we shouldn’t have shot. Megan initially kept the whole thing quiet, but eventually outed Lanez in this video:

She also told the court that Lanez offered her $1m (about £808,000) to keep quiet. A tempting offer, but apparently not enough to buy her silence. Canadian rapper Lanez has pleaded not guilty to discharging a firearm with gross negligence, assault with a semiautomatic firearm, and carrying a loaded, unregistered firearm in a vehicle. My gut feeling is that Megan Thee Stallion is telling the truth about this whole ordeal, which means we’re dealing with an insane person in Tory Lanez who will literally shoot your feet off if you insult his music. Maybe the sort of the guy that should be locked up for a while.

The trial continues…
