I can’t imagine spending more than about ten minutes eating the food that you get from McDonald’s because there’s hardly that much of it and it goes down real quick, but the guy in this story somehow managed to take over 90 minutes to eat it all and ended up getting fined £100 for the privilege.

Shapour Meftah was meeting his brother for a catchup after work and decided to pick McDonald’s for this activity out of anywhere else in the world he could have gone, parking his car in the restaurant car park without thinking twice about it. That was his second bad move (the first one was going to McDonald’s in the first place) as the car park apparently had a 90 minute time limit in place and two penalty notices arrived through his door a few days later after he outstayed his welcome.

Apparently the guy had parked in the McDonald’s for over 90 minutes on both January 4th and January 6th? Anyway, if he doesn’t pay the fines within one week the each one will rise to over £100 a ticket.

Obviously Meftah is furious about this development and went to his local newspaper to vent his frustrations, who also decided to embarrass him even further by making him pose for a dumb little photoshoot too:

It was parking from hell – the most expensive McDonald’s I’ve ever had.

There’s no sign inside McDonald’s that says you have 90 minutes to sit down, eat and go.

You don’t want to rush your meal and we ordered quite a bit of food.

There’s no way you can get help from them. I tried talking to them and they said it was nothing to do with them.

There’s no way on earth they’ll help you.

OK so first I gotta say it’s a bit skanky that you can get fined so much for parking at McDonald’s, but something about this guy’s story just doesn’t add up to me. Firstly, there’s a picture of him standing in front of a massive sign in the car park saying that he can only stay there for 90 minutes so you can’t exactly say that it wasn’t well sign posted. Fairly certain that every one of those car parks in retail parks or wherever have a time limit on them too and it’s pretty much common knowledge.

There’s also something suspicious about the fact that he parked his car there for two nights in the space of three days? Surely he can’t have been talking to his brother for almost four hours over the course of two McDonald’s meals? What the hell could they have been discussing? Definitely something up here that makes me think there’s something else going on.

For more of the same, check out this dude releasing a rat into McDonald’s after they got his order wrong. Bit much isn’t it?
