Looksmaxxer Who Drowned In Thailand Was ‘Injecting Himself With Gold’ Believing It Could Give ‘Special Powers’

Earlier this week we wrote about Connor Murphy – the American fitness influencer/looksmaxxer who died after drowning in a lake following a ‘steroid and drug-fueled rampage’ in Thailand.

The 31-year-old was seen behaving erratically on the streets of Samut Prakan, yelling prayers, rolling around on the floor, and arguing with a security guard after trashing his condo at a luxury housing estate in the Bang Phli district.

When police arrived, Murphy legged it to a nearby lake where he dived in naked, swam until he was exhausted, and then disappeared under the water.

30 minutes later – rescue divers retrieved his body from the 8ft-deep lake.

Fellow looksmaxxer and close friend Androgenic has now spoken out about his late friend, revealing that Murphy had been injecting himself with gold in the weeks before his death, believing it could grant him special powers.

Androgenic explained: “He started to get this fixation on gold. He started to believe that gold was some gatekept mineral by the higher-ups that basically gives you special powers if you ingest it…”

“A few weeks later he started the experiment, he was injecting gold… He was just crazy. He was covered in discolouration from gold poisoning… He ended up covered in his own blood, running around his neighborhood screaming, and then the police where called, and then the police chased him down, he ran into the lake, tried to escape, and we know what happened. Rest in Peace”

“I always had this thought that Connor Murphy is so deeply misunderstood… but it is so unfortunate that I so desperately wanted him to be vindicated. I wanted Connor Murphy to completely vindicate himself and for people to realise, wait this guy is onto something, this guys actually a smart guy that actually know how to live, better than the average guy does…”

“I miss him deeply, and I wish he didn’t do that obviously… At the end of the day, I f-cking love Connor, and I hope he’s living in some blissful afterlife.”

Blimey. Apparently Connor Murphy had been documenting his mental health struggles on social media for the last decade (aside from all the looksmaxxing stuff), but I doubt anyone could have imagined he would be so far gone that he thought injecting himself with gold would be a good idea.

In the end, it’s sad that he couldn’t get the help he needed, but it does make you wonder how damaging this perfectionist “looksmaxxing” mentality can be on a person’s psyche. Imagine being a young, conventionally good-looking lad with a ripped physique, and never being satisfied when you look in the mirror? Thinking you need to inject yourself with gold in order to hit the next level?
