I had said yesterday that the most famous person coming out of the Capitol Building attempted coup was probably the guy with the furry hat, but a close second is definitely the guy who decided to steal the lectern and was gleefully pictured carrying it around like it was the best day of his life.

And it may well have been the best day of his life, but it looks like all those photographs are going to come back to bite him in the ass when he faces trials for his actions as even his defence attorney is saying that because of them the case is pretty much unwinnable for him. Dan Eckhart is the lawyer for Adam Johnson/Van Getty and here’s what he had to say outside the courthouse yesterday:

You have a photograph of our client in a building, unauthorized to be there, with what appears to be a podium or a lectern, I’m not exactly sure which one it is called. But that’s what we have.

Yes, I don’t know how else to explain that. But yeah, that would be a problem.

I’m not a magician. So yeah, we’ve got a photograph of our client in what appears to be inside a federal building or the Capitol with Federal property.

Oops. In fairness, to Eckhart, his job here is more to argue that Johnson’s actions weren’t as bad as those of others that stormed the Capitol Building and hope that a judge takes pity on his stupidity and gives him a more lenient sentence and he might be able to do that considering a bunch of people ended up dead. Anybody’s guess how this is going to play out though – preliminary hearing is set for January 19th next week, one day before Joe Biden’s inauguration. Can definitely see that whole situation playing out well.

For more of the same, check out how prison is working out for the hat guy at the moment. Not so good either.
