It’s been somewhat of a mixed year for Jeremy Clarkson as Amazon decided not to renew his contract following his comments about Meghan Markle, but then ‘Clarkson’s Farm’ became the most popular show ever on the streaming platform. Bet Amazon are kicking themselves over that one hey?

Clarkson’s role on ‘Who Wants To Be A Millionaire?’ on ITV has also been up in the air as well – not really sure what the ratings are like on that one – but the TV channel have today confirmed that they won’t be moving forward with the controversial presenter as the host. Here’s what ITV boss Carolyn McCall had to say about the decision:

We have a contract. We’re contracted to this [season], so we will do that. And then we have no future commitments.

There was no dissent internally. We came out much quicker than anybody else, Amazon included.

We just came out said, ‘Yes, we do not endorse a single word that he said on that. And there’s no place for that on ITV.’

So we came out very quickly and just said, you know, that wasn’t on ITV. But we don’t endorse that in any way. And there’s no place for that on ITV.

Fair enough really I suppose. Clarkson’s comments about Meghan Markle were meant to be a joke/Game Of Thrones reference but I can certainly see why they’ve offended so many people as they essentially condone violence against women and therefore it makes sense that TV channels no longer want to be associated with him. Does seem a bit counterproductive when the guy is clearly still a massive ratings draw though, but I suppose some things are more important than that.

Way to be a bunch of martyrs. Hopefully it at least does something to quell the growth of creepy women hating incels that seems to be growing all over the world, although it doesn’t seem like anything is going to kerb that to be honest.

As for Clarkson, he’ll probably just join another TV channel and bring a load of viewers along with him, just like he did when he left the BBC and joined Amazon. I guess GB News or Talk TV seems the obvious destination at this point – if they can afford him.
