I don’t know who’s buying tickets for an Ian Brown solo show in 2022, but the former Stone Roses frontman did his legacy no favours with an absolute disaster of a gig in Leeds last Sunday.
The guy turned up without a band and basically looked like a Mancunian dad doing karaoke the whole night…
Gutted to see @ianbrown turn up to his £40 a ticket, sold out gig at leeds tonight WITH NO BAND. I’m a life long fan but it was bad. #ianbrown does karaoke and butchers his own tunes. Most were too pissed to care but I had to get out after this one. Longsight M13 was a highlight. pic.twitter.com/8owVy2NHjS

At one point, a disgruntled attendee lobbed a pint on stage, prompting Ian Brown to put a curse on his first born child. Whoa! Harsh…
A whole bunch of clips are doing the rounds showing Brown performing on a bare stage with a heavy backing track and minimal effort put into the whole thing…
If anyone was thinking of getting a ticket to go see Ian Brown I’d think again. I see he hasn’t even bothered to take a band on tour with him. Sounding absolutely terrible. Basically £40 to watch a bad karaoke. Wish artists would just stop when they’re finished.

50 quid to see Ian brown off his head doing karaoke like he’s in Neptune’s bar🤣 https://t.co/UmhoU4t0mW

Anyone who has Ian Brown tickets for the tour, sell them now. Talk about desecrating the memory of the Stone Roses – he’s just done it one evening.

So Ian Brown’s turned up in Leeds tonight and just sung along to a backing track for 1.5 hours 👀🤦🏻♂️

I thought I’d seen it all….but this Ian Brown stuff is soooooo sad. I’d be angry if I’d forked out good money to watch him walk back n forth alone on stage to a backing track.
From this far away, I just feel sorry for him. And all the punters who turned up in Leeds

Ian Brown signing over backing tracks in Leeds tonight. No live band on stage. Wtf?

Worst of all, no Stone Roses tracks on the setlist! What’s that about?

Amazingly, there were some attendees who actually had a good time at the show…
Saw Ian Brown in Leeds last night. If you are a fan of Ian Brown’s solo stuff and you have tickets for his tour, you’ll love it but don’t go expecting Stone Roses songs or a backing band as he has neither. Decent night though 🎶 pic.twitter.com/NqDJ315ymW

Top night in Leeds thanks to @ianbrown @Dermo___ Ignore the twitter wankers, I was there and I saw a sold out show full of people on their feet enjoying every minute

I guess it does sound like pretty hilarious night, but for £50 you probably want to feel like he’s put a bit of effort in rather than just turn up and do the bare minimum without even a band to accompany him. Let’s be real, Ian Brown never had a good live voice, so for him to just turn up with only a backing track to help him out is just poor form really. Couldn’t he at least have got the nunchucks out?
